Q. Can you tell me a little bit about Breezy Hawaii Weddings?
A. Breezy Hawaii Weddings by the Romance Specialists, LLC is owned by an experienced, professional trained, educated certified wedding planner and has won multiple awards for our weddings, photography and website. We specialize in simple yet romantic stress-free weddings on Oahu and Maui, Hawaii. We opened in 2003, became a LLC in 2005 and average about 200 weddings and vow renewals per year. While we do not have an “exact count”, we estimate that we have done over a thousand weddings and/or events since our opening. We have been featured on theknot.com, weddingchannel.com, USAWeddingAwards.com, weddingsolutions.com, World Class Bridal Expo, Bridesclub.com and many other national wedding sites. We are members of the Maui Wedding Association, American Association of Wedding Officiants, American Society of Wedding Planners, Bridal Association of America and various other professional organizations.
Q. Can you show me feedback from your clients?
A. Yes! We invite to read the comments at our online viewing area as well as view the pictures from our actual Hawaii weddings at (http://www.hawaiiwedding.smugmug.com/) or you can view our blog at http://breezyhawaiiweddings.blogspot.com/. In this area you’ll get T “real, unedited” feedback from our past clients as well as see pictures from their weddings. We are confident that you’ll find that your “unedited feedback” is equal or better than that of those websites only posting the feedback they want you to read.
Q. Can I customize my Hawaii wedding package?
A. Yes! You absolutely can. It’s your wedding and you should have it your way! You can customize your Hawaii wedding package or you can do your wedding completely ala carte.
Q. Can I provide my own Hawaii wedding photographer or Hawaii wedding minister or do I have to use yours?
A. No worries! You can absolutely provide your own Hawaii wedding photographer or Hawaii wedding minister. You do not have to use ours if you do not want to. We are professionals and able to easily adapt to an outside Hawaii wedding vendor coming in and it generally does not disrupt our Hawaii wedding services. We welcome the opportunity to network with other Hawaii wedding professionals and will work with them to ensure that everything goes well on your wedding day.
Q. What do I need to do if I want to book my Hawaii wedding with you?
A. It’s your Hawaii wedding so it should be personal. The first thing we need to do is personally talk over the phone (or face to face for our local clients) about your Oahu wedding or Maui wedding. This gives you a chance to “size us up” and see if we are a good fit for you. We’re not right for everybody so we also want to see if you’re a good fit for us as well. We specialize in small, intimate, stress-free weddings so we don’t do large events or deal with Bridezillas. We don’t waist time going over the thirty different shades of the color white or a thousand different place setting options. Don’t get me wrong, we’re here for our brides and consider each of our clients a part of our Ohana (family). But, we are all about “stress-free Hawaii weddings” and Bridezillas are anything but stress-free. After we get to know each other a little and we both feel that we are good fit for each other, the next step would be to provide you with an estimate and then a wedding contract. Once we have the contract back your date, time and services are secured. It’s simple, easy and is done completely over the phone as well as emails.
What do I need to do to get my Hawaii marriage license?
The bride and groom need to go to the Hawaii Department of Health together with photo ID’s and $60 cash. They do not accept credit cards or checks – cash only. Both the bride and groom are required to be present at the time of applying for the marriage license. You will need to fill out the application which you can download from our website as well as locate directions to the Department of Health. It is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 – 3:00 for walk-in service only. Metered parking is available so please bring some quarters with you.
You do not need a blood test or proof of divorce to obtain a marriage license. There is not a waiting period so you may get married any time after receiving your marriage license.
For after hours service (nights, weekends & holidays only) you will need to schedule an appointment in advance with an outside agent. Outside agents operate out of a home office and are authorized by the state to distribute marriage licenses only beyond normal operating business hours. You will need to go to their home office with a completed application and $65 exact cash. It is $5.00 more for after hour’s service and no change will be provided.

Q. It is very important to us that the Hawaii wedding location is very secluded and private with nobody else around. Can you guarantee this?
A. Yes, if you paid a site fee for a private location. Private Hawaii wedding locations are the only way to guarantee privacy but they do have site fees ranging from $75 to over $3,000. Private Hawaii wedding locations generally include other items such as chairs, signing table, cake table, back up plan in case of rain and sometimes even an arch. However, all beaches in Hawaii are public and free of charge to use but nobody can guarantee you a private beach. We will make several recommendations about Hawaii beach wedding locations that have worked well in the past but make no guarantees of privacy. If you are looking for privacy you will need to venture well outside of Waikiki or pay for a private Hawaii wedding location. If you want to stay within 30 minutes of the Waikiki area, please expect and be prepared for numerous other beach goers being around.
Q. We are going to write our own vows or ceremony. Where can we go for ideas and by when do we need to have them completed?
A. We recommend visiting www.myweddingvows.com for some great ceremony and vow ideas. You will need to submit your ceremony requests to your coordinator no later than two weeks prior to the event date.
Q. I need to get a legal copy of my marriage license as soon as possible. How can I do this?
A. One option to get your Hawaii marriage license quickly is to hand carry your marriage license back into the Hawaii Department of Health after the ceremony. You can request to get your marriage license immediately and usually you can get it within 24 hours after submitting it in person when you go back to the Department of Health in person. This is the quickest way to get your legal copy. If you do the submitting, processing and request via mail, it will take anywhere from 1 month to 4 months. If you hand carry it in and go back in person after submitting it you’ll get it within days.
Q. I am having an outside Hawaii wedding. What happens if it rains?
A. If it rains we wait for a little while to see if it passes as it often does in Hawaii. It generally only rains for about 15 minutes at a time. Most of the time waiting is enough. If it doesn’t stop we will relocate if able. It seldom rains island wide so relocating to a dry area is workable for small weddings time permitting. If it doesn’t stop raining and we can’t relocate we try to locate nearby shelter and continue on the ceremony.
Q. Can I pick the Hawaii wedding minister, Hawaii wedding photographer or videographer we get?
A. You can make a request of who you would like and we will try our best to fulfill it. However, if the minister or vendor you select is not available we will secure another vendor that is available. About 75% of the time we are able to fulfill these requests but we do not guarantee it. Although rare, “life” sometimes happens causing unexpected changes. However, you can breath easy knowing we have several high quality vendors available and you’ll be more than satisfied with your wedding even if your first choice is unavailable.
Q. Do we have to tip anyone? (Wedding Etiquette & Gratuity)
A. Breezy Hawaii Weddings by the Romance Specialists is all about “stress-free” so please don’t worry about gratuity. Virtually all national publications and wedding books that discuss wedding etiquette state that it is NOT normal to tip your wedding planner. If you wish to express your gratitude to your coordinator then a card or wrapped gift is much more appropriate. However, you may have noticed that several companies choose to throw appropriate wedding etiquette out the window and suggest that gratuity is not only normal but expected. This does not mean that they are bad wedding providers, but it does show that they either ignore very basic wedding industry standards or that they are unaware of those standards. Either way, this can put a client in an uncomfortable and unnecessary situation but we will not do that to you. To us, a stress-free, easy, breezy Hawaii wedding means you shouldn’t have to worry about taking your wallet out on the wedding day.
