The Romance Specialists Business Experience

Many are surprised to find that The Romance Specialists business journey started with a playful joke. Managing member and founder of the Romance Specialists, Dawn Nash, was talking with her husband how they were both too tired and busy for romance. Dawn's husband Mike replied "If only there was a company that I could hire to do all the romantic work for me." And with that single statement, the seed of an idea began to grow and the Romance Specialists was born.

Dawn began offering small romantic events for couples including marriage proposals, courtships, vow renewals and small weddings. Dawn looked for ways to develop her business as well as her clients experience. She went to the Wedding Planning Institute in California to study wedding and event planning directly under master planner and author, Cho Phillips. Dawn began business management courses, enrolled at UH for photography and began focusing on every aspect of having an event business that could help her clients have a better experience. Dawn was one of the first in the state to earn her Wedding Planning certification and became the first ever certified wedding planning instructor for WPI in the entire state of Hawaii.

With ample training and education, Dawn turned all of her attention on her own brides and business. Slowly but surely her business grew as did her online reputation and the awards. Over the years, Dawn has won over 20 different awards for her wedding planning and photography. However, despite her success, she is one of the most unrecognized wedding professionals on the island as she chooses to keep a very low profile. In fact with multiple TV credits to her name, including appearing on the TV show The Borderless World, The Aloha United Way TV commercial campaign, various stages around the country including Caroline's on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club and the world famous Second City, many tourist will recognize Dawn before a local will. She enjoys focusing on family, friends and of course, weddings while staying out of the "who's who" of the Hawaii business scene.

The future of the Romance Specialists is bright as we are currently in the process of expanding services to Maui. In July of 2012, the Romance Specialists will be opening a remote office in San Diego, California were we can meet with mainland brides directly.

To this day, The Romance Specialists has stayed true to its roots still focusing on small, intimate weddings and events that are centered around love and romance. With a team of about 30+ vendors and servicing all of Oahu, the company continues to grow and delight couples from all around the world. Just as her husband joked so many years ago, most of her clients are too busy and too tired to create custom romantic events and she is more than happy to do it for them.
